What We Do - A Community to Combat Homelessness

What We Do

The best way to combat homelessness in our community is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Escambia County has a wealth of resources for low-income families or those experiencing financial difficulties. We connect struggling families with local and government programs that can provide assistance in their specific situations as well as provide guidance and support with the goal of combating homelessness.

Providing for Homeless Families

For those actively experiencing homelessness in our community, we provide:

  • overnight shelter

  • hot meals

  • showers

  • laundry facilities

  • computers and internet access

  • support and guidance

  • transportation to/from shelter and Day Center

Through our Interfaith Hospitality Network, faith organizations provide unoccupied space as a safe, warm place for families to sleep at night. Our Day Center, generously donated by Baptist Health Care, provides a place for families to meet basic needs including hot meals, showers, and laundry facilities. The staff and volunteers at the Day Center provide case management connecting families with financial resources and assisting in the search for jobs, affordable housing, and education as well as offer mentorship and support. Transportation for families is also provided to and from shelter locations and the Day Center.

If your family is in need of assistance check out a full list of resources and information here.

If you are interested in getting involved to help with our mission we are always in need of volunteers, hosts, and financial donors. Learn more about how you could help.
